SOTO tapestry

SOTO is a fiber art tapestry and tribute to kinetic artist Jesús Rafael Soto.

Soto’s deep and abundant work revives the landscape where the kinetic artist was born. The Orinoco River and the wealth of vegetation and fauna of Ciudad Bolívar in Venezuela.

Soto is a recognized plastic artist and one of the most important and generous of the 20th century. His work is full of sensitivity, serenity, humility and curiosity.

Likewise, music, movement and street art are constant topics in Soto’s work. Music is present in Étude pour une série (1952-53), which have been the inspiration for both tapestries. Soto and Soto II

Textile art uses fiber and in this case cotton ropes. Soto tapestry has strings of different thicknesses and colours: blue, green, yellow, red, black and raw white.

Soto fiber art tapestry tribute to a kinetic master

The design is horizontal lines that play with color and shape. The cross knot is the absolute protagonist in this piece. Horizontally knotted, it mixes colours and lines in a clean and simple way.

Learning from the extensive work of the plastic artist Soto is a way to grow as an artist. Inspired by a unique and unrepeatable creator.
